EJU and INAS-FID sign cooperation agreement

December 20 2008 Amsterdam,

 

During a meeting on the initiative of the EJU Special Needs coordinator, the European Judo Union and the International Federation for sport for people with an intellectual disability have sign a transitional cooperation agreement. 

The EJU is convinced by including  persons with a disability in their organization to help them participate as productive and respected members of society at large. By offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through judo training and competition and by increasing the public awareness of their capabilities and needs.

In order to enable the athletes to reach their optimal level in Judo according to their mental and physical abilities, the European Judo Union and INAS-FID Europe will provide the necessary assistance within the scope of their facilities and resources to assist in their training, courses, tournaments and sporting entertainment

To encourage the practice of Judo by intellectually disabled persons the European Judo Union and INAS-FID Europe will give their assistance during technical and pedagogical training courses to the teachers, referees and persons in charge of the National judo Federations.

 

To participate in the European Judo Championships organized by EJU and INAS-FID Europe the participants will have to comply with

The eligibility classification set by INAS-FID and be subject to the rules of the events.

The rules outlined by the European Judo Union and be subject to the rules of the events.

This agreement wil be official afther de signing of the president of the EJU and brings judokas with a intellectual disability of level 1 a huge step closer by the desired status of Top athlete and thereby normalization.
